LMRA’s successful inspection campaigns highlighted

Bahrain : The Board of Directors of the Labour Market Regulatory Authority (LMRA), today held its sixth regular meeting virtually, under the chairmanship of Labour Minister, Jameel bin Mohammed Ali Humaidan, in the presence of LMRA Chief Executive Officer, Noof Abdulrahman Jamsheer, and members.The panel affirmed the LMRA’s keenness to create a competitive, fair and stable work environment that ensures the rights of all parties, which will enhance their contributions to the comprehensive development process, led by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa.LMRA board also commended the order of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, to revoke the Flexi permit, register all expatriate workers in partnership with the private sector, intensify inspection campaigns and toughen measures against violators, be it workers or employers, as well as link work permits to vocational and occupational standards to increase safety and protections in places of work, in addition to the provision of the appropriate environment for workers that takes into account their rights and increases the effectiveness of their role in economic development.The panel welcomed the positive outcomes of the intensified inspection campaigns, which led to strengthening government efforts to address illegal practices in the labour market, tightening dealing with violating employers and workers, and addressing irregular employment.LMRA chief gave a detailed report about LMRA’s efforts, programmes and achievements.She indicated that the launch of the registration system of workers coincided with the beginning of a new phase of partnership between the public and private sectors to develop the labour market and address any potential obstacles in the work environment, noting that both the government and private sectors share the same goals of achieving sustainable economic development and maintaining the stability of the labour market within a system that ensures fairness, competitiveness and flexibility that meets the requirements of the market.Jamsheer also reviewed LMRA’s plan to intensify inspection campaigns and toughen measures against violators, in partnership with the Interior Ministry and the relevant authorities, stressing LMRA’s keenness to deal firmly with all violations of its rules.She also highlighted LMRA’s strategic plans aimed at developing the work environment for workers and employers.
