ISB Community Sports Fest begins with enthusiastic participation    

Manama:The ISB Community Sports Fest 2023 being organized by the Indian School under the patronage of the Indian Embassy got off to a colourful start on Saturday. Indian Ambassador HE Piyush Srivastava  inaugurated  the Community Sports Fest in the ISB Isa Town campus Jashanmal Auditorium.ISB Hon.Chairman Prince S Natarajan,Hon.Secreatry Saji Antony, EC Member-Sports Rajesh MN, EC Member-Transport  Mohammad Nayaz Ullah, Staff Representative Johnson K Devassy, Principal VR Palaniswamy,Riffa campus Principal Pamela Xavier, Bahrain Chess Federation-Head of Communications Abdulla Mohammed Aldoseri, Arjun’s Chess Academy CEO Arjun Kakkadath, Organizing committee Patron Mohammad Hussain Malim, Convener Tawfeeq, staff, parents and students attended the inaugural ceremony. The Indian Ambassador declared the Sports Fest open. ‘Sports teaches us how to handle failures and success at the same time. Sports also teaches us to work hard and push our limits to reach new heights. It inculcates a habit of discipline, respect, friendship, leadership and teamwork’ ,the ambassador said. The ambassador appreciated the excellent results that the ISB achieved in CBSE examinations.The school held its first-ever chess challenge, where more than 280 students participating in a healthy cognitive competition with each other. Indian Ambassador Piyush Srivastava   inaugurated the chess tournament by playing the  first move with a student.
ISB Community Sports Fest 2023 is held in celebration of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav which is an initiative of the Government of India to commemorate the 75 years of independence and the glorious history of its people, culture, and achievements. The sports fest is also held in celebration of the 50 years of diplomatic relations between India and the Kingdom of Bahrain. Principal VR Palaniswamy welcomed the gathering. ISB Hon. Chairman Prince S Natarajan  gave a felicitation address and handed over memento to the chief guest.  Indian Ambassador Piyush Srivastatva  released the logo of the sports fest, handing it over to Convener Tawfeeq. EC Member Rajesh MN  gave a felicitation address. Hon.Secreatry Saji Antony gave the vote of thanks.  Students Sahasra Kottagiri and Archa Binu were the masters of ceremonies.    The Indian School will  organize a plethora of activities as part of the Sports Fest. The  Chathuranga (Chess) Sports Tournament with the support of Arjun’s Chess Academy will continue till May  15,2023. Other sports events which include Badminton, Table Tennis, Cricket, Football, Volleyball, Tug of War, Kabaddi and Athletics will also be  held with the enthusiastic support and participation of the Indian School parents and Indian community members in addition to various schools in the Kingdom. These sports events will be held in the coming weeks. The Indian School officials said community sports fest creates a culture of wellness and boosts the camaraderie among the community.The Chess tournament will consist of four competitions over three days. The Open Rapid Chess Tournament and  Under-16 Tournament were held on Friday. The  Women’s Tournament will be held on May 14 at 6:00 pm, and the Under-10 Tournament on May 15 at 6:00 pm. The tournament will be conducted as per the latest Fide guidelines.
