Manama: HH Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Representative of HM the King for Humanitarian Works and Youth Affairs, has expressed his happiness at the broad participation featured on the first day of the 2nd Nasser bin Hamad Cycling Tour which is organised by Bahrain Cycling Association in collaboration with Faaliyat.
HH Shaikh Nasser underlined that the cycling sport in the Kingdom of Bahrain is heading towards broader development and prosperity after making many successes in the past period abroad, adding that the 3-day-tour represents a key factor for injecting new Bahraini talents to the national teams as well as allowing them to be professional riders.
It’s worth noting that the first stage covered 65km. The winners were crowned in the presence of Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, President of Bahrain Cycling Association (BCA), Shaikh Ali bin Mohammed Al Khalifa, Director of Strategy and Planning at Gulf Air, Shaikh Khalifa bin Ali Al Khalifa from the Corporate Communications and Sustainability at Batelco, and Dr Abdulrahman Jawahery, CEO of Bapco as well as other officials.
Rider Jassim Mohammed of Back Zone team won the first stage in the Bahraini riders’ category, followed by his teammate Mohsen Mohammed, while Mousa Karesh of Andora came third. The yellow jersey was handed to Jassim Mohammed, while the red jersey was given to Anwar Al Alawi of A’ali Club.
The blue jersey was handed to Jassim Mohammed Husain, while the green jersey went to Jamal Al Dooseri. In the GCC riders’ category, Osama Mansour of Turk team (A) won the race, followed by Ahmed Qaed of Dubai Police (A) and Ahmed Nasser (individual) respectively.
