Manama: A speicalised committee has destroyed a total of 4.800 kilos of drugs and psychotropic substances which were seized through final court verdicts. The committee in charge of overseeing the destruction or delivery of confiscated materials and tools disposed of the drugs, in accordance with the provisions of Law No. (15) of 2007 regarding narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances.The committee which was set up by edict issued by the Minister of Justice, Islamic Affairs and Endowments includes members representing the Public Prosecution, the Ministry of Justice, Islamic Affairs and Endowments. The panel went this morning to the store which confiscated drug was kept and conducted a legal review of the seizures to ensure their authenticity and the check the seals, said committee chairma, Head of the Penal Execution Prosecution Office Advocate Mohammed Saleh Al Musallam.The seized items were melted in furnaces with a temperature of 1100 degrees Celsius, in accordance with the provisions of the Narcotics and Psychotropic Substances Law.
